Advancing Forestry Education with Mobile Technology

ForEdu&MobileTechTo address mounting threats and sustain forest systems, competent forestry graduates, who are able to address complex economic, ecological, and social issues involving forest resources, are greatly needed. Forestry is a traditional discipline and therefore finds itself challenged to educate students with 21st century technology and sciences to solve these new problems.

This project will provide forestry undergraduate students with numerous redesigned courses that maximize the use of mobile technology so students can learn forestry concepts in both the field and classroom, visualize spatial and temporal aspects of a forest landscape, and ensure NAU’s School of Forestry remains in the forefront of forestry education. In addition, multiple surveys will be conducted throughout classes to determine goal success and assess student learning experiences.
